Campos Elíseos Theatre
The Campos Elíseos Theatre has been a part of life in Bilbao since 1902, when it was opened on what was then the grounds of the ‘Jardines de los Campos Elíseos’. The work of architect Alfredo Acebal and French decorator Jean Batiest Darroguy (who designed its characteristic façade), the Modernist building has been declared a Place of Cultural Interest.
In 2010, a painstaking renovation managed to restore its original Modernist design as far as possible, while at the same time giving the building more space. The building now has a surface area of 7,300 m2 and holds two performance halls, an art and technology training centre and a restaurant. The modernisation of its facilities also provided a chance to add the most advanced technologies for staging the performing arts. Source: http://www.teatrocampos.com
