Arriaga Theatre

Teatro Arriaga
  • Bus

This is a late 19th century Neo-Baroque building designed by architect Joaquín de Rucoba and dedicated to Bilbao composer Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, who has been dubbed the “Spanish Mozart”. It was inaugurated on 31 May 1890.

It is one of Bilbao’s main theatres, and one of the city’s landmark buildings. It has experienced various misfortunes, from the fire of 1914 to the floods of 1983, which forced its reconstruction and remodelling. Nowadays it is used mainly to put on plays, musicals, dances, concerts and operettas. Source: Wikipedia
